BackDock Arts, located in the heart of Fortitude Valley, is a vibrant performance venue dedicated to showcasing local creativity. Our spacious outdoor courtyard is perfect for events like night markets, festivals, and street art exhibitions, while the indoor area hosts a variety of performances, including Live bands, theatre, drag shows, Hip Hop, burlesque, and more.
Conveniently situated just 500 meters from Brisbane's top nightclubs, we also offer an ideal space for private events such as parties, birthdays, and functions. Big things are happening at BackDock Arts! Aimee and Justin, the passionate owners, took over the venue in 2024 and have spent the past year giving it a fresh new vibe while honoring its rich history. With exciting renovations complete, they’ve created a space that supports Brisbane’s performing artists and helps them reach new heights.

Trains - Fortitude Valley Train Station is just 400 meters (4 minute walk) away, offering access to all major train lines in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
Buses - There are several bus stops in the Valley, many within a minute’s walk of the venue. For more information, please check the TransLink Journey Planner.
Driving & Parking - There are plenty of parking options on nearby streets many of which offer free parking on the weekends. The closest commercial carpark is Secure Parking located within the Train Station (52 Alfred Street, Fortitude Valley).

Theatre Shows - Doors will open 20 minutes prior to the show. The time on your ticket is the curtain time and you may be locked out of the venue if you arrive late.
All Other Shows - Doors will open at the time that is stated on your ticket, however, this can change subject to the showrunners requirements.

Are there assigned seating?
There are no assigned seating or sections at BackDock Arts. All tickets purchased are for General Admission. Should you wish to choose your preferred seat for theatre shows, please arrive early at the venue.
If you have any seating needs before admission, our friendly staff and ushers are more than happy to assist with your requests.

Do you serve alcohol?
BackDock Arts operates a fully licensed bar with a great selection of beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks and pre-mixed drinks.
As we are a licensed venue, we require photo ID. We accept driver licenses, passports and 18+ cards.
Do you sell food?
We do not sell any food, however, there are plenty of restaurants and eateries around the Valley.
Can I bring my own food and drinks?
All outside drinks are not allowed in the venue as we are a Licensed Venue.
Food may be brought in, however, this is strictly to be consumed in the Courtyard and is not to be brought Indoors.

There is no dress code! We only ask that you put on clothes before arriving.
We do not have a cloakroom so please take note when dressing up to BackDock Arts.

Can I buy tickets on the door?
Yes you can buy tickets on the door, however, this will be subject to availability especially for theatre shows where we have limited seating.
Do I need to print my ticket?
We encourage you to display your ticket on your phone to help save paper, but you’re also welcome to bring a printed ticket. Alternatively, you can check in at the venue by providing your booking name.
